Thinking Outside the 858 and 951
I have been in a San Diego bubble. Being the largest craft brew city, second to only Hamburg Germany, why leave this beer scene. So I thought I would branch out a little bit.
Now I have never been to Oregon, but it has been on my travel list for some time now. As an avid doughnut lover, one thing I must do soon is hit up Voodoo Doughnuts. The closest I can get to eating a Voodoo doll doughnut at the moment is Rogue’s Voodoo Doughnut Pretzel, Raspberry & Chocolate Ale. With overwhelming flavors of both sweet and salty, I thought it would make a great beer bread.

Conclusion
The mix of both chocolate and salty flavors were quite delightful to my palate. I was amazed how salty this bread is (I used self rising flour so no extra salt added). It tasted like a chocolate covered pretzel. One thing I would try if I were to make this again is perhaps adding crumbled chocolate covered pretzels into the dough before baking. The extra crunchy texture is what was missing this time around. Nonetheless, quite an amazing treat!
